Uru Månuka Student Summit

Twelve Gilberthorpe students were privileged to attend the first inaugural Uru Månuka Student Summit, at Hornby Primary today. 6 students presented Toolkits to other åkonga in pairs.
They attended (and presented) Toolkits on topics ranging from robotics, voki, scratch coding, using apps...
Afterwards, the 90 students were able to take their new knowledge back and share it with the åkonga in their classrooms.

  1. This was a fantastic day of learning, I was very proud of all of our students who attended and especially our presenters. It was a great example of how engaged in learning people are when the content is relevant and motivating. I look forward to many more opportunities.

  2. It was a great day for the students who attended and was also beneficial for the rest of Rimu Class when these summit attendees returned. We had a session where each of the summit team held a different mini workshop and the rest of the class chose what they wanted to learn more about. It was such a great use of time and the level of engagement was high. I particularly enjoyed being able to learn alongside the children and having them encourage me when things were a struggle or when I missed the explanation. Lifelong learning!!

  4. It is so great that the students had the opportunity to attend so many interesting workshops and learn and communicate with students from throughout the cluster. Also I like the use of flipgrid, I was shown this during some Ipad PD but I have yet to actually use it in the classroom. Soit is great to see some ways to use this.
