Refining the Growth Mindset Theory

Carol Dweck's Growth Mindset theory has become very popular among educators. Her research provides us with information that can assist us in giving quality feedback to our students; As we have learnt from previous readings, quality feedback can accelerate a child's progress by eight months. In this article Carol Dweck addresses some of the misconceptions around Growth Mindset and provides practical ways to develop a learning focused and progressive mindset in our children.

  1. This is a great read and reminder of how our mindsets and our words can impact on student learning. Reminds me of affirmations and how these actually do determine how we think about our abilities and skills.
    I am interested to see the mountain on your wall with cutouts of your kids along rising path and how this is working in your room.

  2. I really love the examples of statements that can be used with students, this gives up some simple practical sentences that we can try with the students. So important to develop these skills in students so that they have a desire to succeed and don't give up. We have a key role to play in this.
